I think it matters that the email equipment is owned by the employee. AC’s communication policy clearly states that all the communication equipment are provided by the company and that all information sent, stored or received on these systems is exclusive property of the company. It is different when the equipment is owned by the employee because the company may not be able to own any information communicated through the equipment. The policy does not cover issues regarding the use of personal email so employees should just use what the company recommends.
